Attack on Titan Season 2 (Shingeki no Kyojin Season 2) First Impressions

Attack on Titan’s first season was one of the more enticing anime that I’ve have watched in quite a long while. Fans (Me included) have been eagerly waiting for a season 2. After a long wait, clicking away on the web just to get hold of the any teasers, fan fiction, the suspence – finally it’s here. Attack on Titan Season 2 (Shingeki no Kyojin Season 2). Let the hype begin.

If you haven’t watched the second season yet I’d recommend you watch it on Crunchyroll, you can easily avail a free 30-day trial account, and follow all the series you love. If you’re a huge fan you can even order the Attack on Titan: Complete Season One [Blu-ray], from Amazon!

Okay. The first season ended with a cliffhanger, dropping our jaws and leaving us waiting, unless of course you couldn’t wait and read the Manga, shame on you. Maybe not a solid cliffhanger per-se, let’s call it a pseudo-cliffhanger (Ok?…Ok). A few of the questions were answered and new ones emerged to take their place. The fight at the end did satisfy us to a good extent, very good extent, but we wanted more. That’s where the second comes in, starting at the exactly where the first season left off. The cliffhanger ending from the last season was finally addressed and from there the plot thickens and our expectations raised higher! Some say the first episode was just a recap, well I must tell you, It most definitely isn’t.

The series has done well to accommodate the characters. Sadly though, there really isn’t much development in the characters themselves. Most anime end up being a mess, introducing more characters as the plot thickens. Attack on Titan does the opposite… Thankfully though, the series makes sure to give enough time to every character (I’m looking at you too Shounen/Shoujo A) without making it feel as if something or someone is missing. They manage to do all this while making sure that intricacies of the plot are not lost.

It sure is quite interesting to see the mindless titans run amok in strange ways, hunting humans to feast on. At least we thought they were all mindless… The second season introduces us to titans who are actually intellectually superior (almost human-like) and far stronger than before. The sight of the beast titan who leads the flock, smiling as he walks along, is quite eerie. It seems he will be playing a pivotal role this season and there definitely will be feels involved.

With most of the previous season’s mysteries still left unsolved and more questions being asked as the show progresses, it seems the anime has gained quite a good momentum. We’re all looking forward to what happens next.

Till then do follow and enjoy the show!
